Resettlement of 2007 post election violence victims and the impact on PBBM

In an attempt by the Kenyan government to resettle the 2007 post election violence victims, their evictions from the IDP camps has in the interim had adverse effects and particularly on the orphaned children.

Prayer Beyond Boundaries Ministries has been supporting 82 orphaned children from IDP camps in Eldoret. Plans are underway to construct a homecare facility where these children will be cared for and nurtured. Reports from Eldoret by the ministry’s point persons reveal that some of the children are currently seeking refuge from neighboring camps, while others are turning to the streets. Some have health problems caused by the heavy rains in that area.
Given these predicaments and the urgency to vacate the camp sites, PBBM is taking quick steps to secure a temporary accommodation for the children before the completion of the homecare facility currently under construction at Maai Mahiu.

It is also important to note that the facility under construction is temporary but well equipped to cater for the immediate needs of these children. In the long term given sufficient resources, a permanent homecare facility will be constructed, as in the strategic plan.

The immediate plan is to take in the children by end of October 2009. Evangelist Lucy Ngunjiri traveled to Eldoret on October 15 2009 and made plans on how the children will be relocated. We request all the ministry supporters to uphold this process in fervent prayers. We also appeal to you to partner with us financially, since a lot of resources are needed in the process of relocation, resettling and accommodation of these children.

Thank you for your continued support, and may God’s favour continually rest upon you.

Nb: Our Next PBBM meeting at St Andrews P.C.E.A Church Hall will be on 15th November. We hope to have all these idp orphans under our care at Mai Mahiu by then. They will be prayed for during the meeting.
Members should do some shopping and bring it to the meeting. eg, food , clothing,, toilet papers, bar soap etc
